Short Bio

Razi Epsztein is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. He received his BSc and MSc degrees from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (Israel), PhD from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, and postdoctoral training in the lab of Prof. Menachem Elimelech at Yale University. His main research interests center on membrane-based processes for water and wastewater treatment, with current research activities focusing on a fundamental study to understand the mechanisms of molecular transport and selectivity in membranes and nanopores. Based on the insights gained, his group also works on the development of new membranes with improved selectivity for various applications, with specific attention given to the design of ion-selective membranes that recognize target ions through specific binding sites and interactions.
