The Technology
3D scanners represent an object as a set (cloud) of points. Some of these points are not visible on the object from which they are sampled from a specific viewpoint. Hence, many computations involving these points are erroneous. Several methods had been developed to identify and remove such points, all require complete surface reconstruction represented by these points. This process requires not only significant computational resources and time but also additional data that may not be available.
Our technology enables direct computation of object visibility. Direct object visualization opens the door for interactive real-time operations, saves computer resources, and facilitates applications that would otherwise be infeasible. The algorithm features low complexity, while avoiding complex surface reconstruction process.
This new technology enables AI processing and optimization directly on point cloud data.
