The Technology

Microneedles devices to monitor materials in the interstitial fluid or inject materials to it are widely used for a range of medical conditions. Those are hollow microneedles as they need to pass fluids from and to the body. As such they tend to be clogged which shorten their service-life. Some of the devices contain electronic sensors in the microneedles which raises their cost.
Using non-hollow microneedles for detection of substances in the interstitial fluid enables continuous, real-time, painless detection for the biomarkers inside tissue fluids without applying extracting methods.

Advantages

  • Long service-life
  • Continuous, real-time detection

Applications and Opportunities

  • Disease monitoring
  • Blood tests
  • Therapeutic drug monitoring
