Short Bio

Dr. Oded Rabinovitch is a Professor at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and the holder of the Abel Wolman Chair in Civil Engineering. He received a B.Sc. (Summa Cum Laude) degree in Civil Engineering in 1997 and a Ph.D. in 2001, both from the Technion. After graduation, he was a post-doctoral fellow in the Center for Composite Materials at the University of Delaware and in 2002 he joined the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Technion. In 2012 he was awarded the Yanai Prize for Excellence in Academic Education and since 2017 he is listed on The Technion’s Permanent Distinguished Lecturers list.
Prof. Rabinovitch served as the Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering Technion (2014-2019) and since Oct. 2019 he serves and the Senior Executive Vice President of the Technion.
Prof. Rabinovitch teaches and leads research in the field of structural engineering. His main field of interests is strengthening of structures with composite materials and, more generally, the structural behavior of layered, composite, laminated, bonded, and sandwiched structures. In particular, he focuses of the analytical, numerical, and experimental characterization of inter-laminar failure mechanisms typical to such structural forms using nonlinear, dynamic, and stochastic approaches. He is also active in the fields of nonlinear piezoelectric and ferroelectric active structures as well as masonry structures. Prof. Rabinovitch guided and is guiding 21 MSc and PhD graduate students and published 113 peer reviewed journal papers, many of them with his students.
