The Technology

This technology addresses a significant limitation in traditional MRI, which is excellent in damaging anatomical structures, but can say very little as to their physiological condition. An anatomical structure can be hypoxic, enflamed, even dead, yet none of that would be directly manifested in the MRI image.
An experimental approach addressing this matter is hyperpolarization – in which metabolites are magnetically polarized then injected and tracked, providing extensive physiological information. Hyper-magnetized metabolites emit signals many thousands fold stronger and can therefore be detected despite their low concentrations. However, they decay to the non magnetized state after a few seconds – voiding any practical application.
We have developed a platform that permits elongates the magnetic decay process to over 15 minutes. Our technology derives from basic quantum mechanical phenomena, involves no toxins whatsoever and is uniquely fit to for advanceing hyperpolarization from its academic niche to practical clinical use.

Advantages

  • New realm of medical opportunities: the enhanced sensitivity facilitates non invasive detection and monitoring of an endless array of conditions relevant for cancer, ischemic heart problems, renal dysfunction, neurodegenerative disorders, diabetes and many more.
  • Compatible with current hardware: Existing MRI machines and already developed hyperpolarization hardware are perfectly adequate for our technology
  • Superior safety: our technology relies exclusively on benign materials, as opposed to current contrast agents for MRI and nuclear medicine
  • Well recognized utility: multiple successful clinical trials have demonstrated utility in oncology and cardiology

Applications and Opportunities

  • Medical Diagnostics: Enables advanced imaging for cancer monitoring (general, treatment response, and pseudo progression), cardiovascular conditions, acute kidney injury, and diabetes-related injuries.
  • Research and Development: Offers a tool for exploring metabolic liver conditions, blood-brain barrier dynamics, and tissue ischemia with unprecedented precision.
  • Market Potential: Addresses 5B USD market in the immediate term for breast and prostate cancer monitoring. Rapid expansion is anticipated as further applications are addressed billion-dollar market by integrating MRI sensitivity improvements into existing clinical and research applications, transforming capabilities across healthcare domains.
This is an exciting opportunity in which a fundamental technological leap meats a well recognized unmet medical need. This unique set of circumstances provides a rarely found risk-reward making it ripe for commercialization.
