The Technology
The present technology provides a method for generating a fiber from a globular protein, such as albumin, by electrospinning. Thus, albumin fibers and fabrics may be produced and used for wound dressing or for in/ex vivo tissue generation.
Advantages
- Albumin may serve as the building materials for scaffolds and bandages
- Albumin is a stronger biological glue relative to fibrin, once activated
Applications and Opportunities
- Biological glue
- Scaffold for tissue regeneration
- Drug delivery carrier
