Short Bio

Alon Gany is Professor Emeritus at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering of the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel. He was the holder of the Fohrman Chair in Aeronautical Engineering and the Head of the Fine Rocket Propulsion Center for 18 years, as well as Director of the Aerothermodynamics Laboratory. During the years 2000-2002 he was also the Dean of Students of the Technion. Alon Gany received his BSc (chemical Eng.), MSc, and Doctor (Aerospace Eng.) degrees from the Technion. He spent a few years at Princeton University as a Postdoc Fellow and as a Visiting Professor, and another year as an NRC Senior Research Fellow at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA, USA.

Alon Gany is International Member of the US National Academy of Engineering (NAE);  Member of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA); Honorary Fellow of the High Energy Materials Society of India (HEMSI) and the Australian Institute of Energetic Materials (AIHEM); Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA); and Member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Combustion Institute, the International Association of Hydrogen Energy (IAHE), and Israel Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Prof. Gany has supervised about 100 doctoral and masters students. He has been recognized as Technion’s Permanent Distinguished Lecturer and has won many awards for excellence in teaching, research, and innovation.

Alon Gany has over 135 refereed journal publications, 20 book chapters, some 20 registered patents worldwide, and more than 400 papers and presentations in professional conferences, including many invited, plenary, and keynote lectures.
