Short Bio

Meir Orenstein received the B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel.,He was a Scientist at Bellcore and the Chief Scientist of the R&D Branch of El-Op, which is Israel`s leading electro-optic company. He is also a cofounder of Lambda Crossing and Optun-start-up companies in the field of optically integrated switches and tunable filters. Since 1991, he has been a Professor of electrical engineering at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, where he heads the Micro/NanoPhotonics Laboratory, and is also a member of the Micro/Nano Electronics Center, the Opto-Electronics Center, the Center of Communications and Information Technology, and Asher Space Institute. His current research interests include theoretical and experimental investigation of nanoplasmonics, microcavities, vertical-cavity diode lasers and arrays, emission of photons with orbital angular momentum, spatial and temporal optical solitons, photonic circuitry, metamaterials, nonreversal optics, optical interconnects, and quantum communications.
